2017 Business Assistance Organization of the Year Competition

Business NH Magazine and the NH Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives invite you to enter the 2016 Business Assistance Organization of the Year competition.

This  award recognizes a NH government or nonprofit organization that demonstrates excellence in helping businesses succeed or in advancing economic development efforts within the state. To qualify, organizations must have economic development or business assistance services as the primary focus of their mission. Organizations that won the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 or 2016 Business Assistance Organization of the Year competition are not eligible to enter.

THE APPLICATION IS ONLINE ONLY. The application deadline is January 31, 2017, after which the online form will no longer be available.

Please note the application is quite extensive. Answer each of the questions below in 1,000 words or less. We suggest you answer the questions in a word document, save them and copy them into this form. Scroll to the bottom of the form for the list of questions.

Detailed Questions


1. Please provide a brief description of the organization, its main business activities and its mission statement


2. Describe how the organization advances economic development efforts within NH communities, in the state, or helps businesses in NH succeed. Highlight innovative programs including services provided and specific outcomes for the programs. Explain why and how the organization's services meet vital needs for businesses. 


3. Describe the impact of the organization. Provide specific metrics that demonstrate the impact such as the number of jobs created, the number of businesses brought in or helped, jobs saved or taxes and other new revenue generated as a result of your work, or other appropriate metrics. While you may provide a historical perspective, be sure to highlight accomplishments during the past year as well. Explain what distinguishes the organization.



4. Upload a copy of the organization's annual financial report.


5. Submit four letters of recommendation from the leaders of businesses who have used or been assisted by the organization's services. These letters should explain, from the writer's perspective, why the organization should be considered for Business Assistance Organization of the Year.
