The University System of NH (USNH) appointed Melinda Treadwell, provost and CEO at Antioch University in Keene, as interim president of Keene State College (KSC), effective July 31. She succeeds Anne Huot, who resigned in late June after four years as president of the college. Huot will take a year-long unpaid leave of absence before returning to her faculty position as a biology professor.

The appointment marks a return to KSC for Treadwell. She has previously held a number of roles at the college, most recently as interim provost and VP for academic affairs. She was also a tenured faculty member and led the Professional and Graduate Studies program.

“I am proud and pleased to be returning to Keene State College,” says Treadwell. “This is an institution that offers so much to the students and the community and I am excited about the opportunities that exist here. I look forward to working with the board of trustees, Chancellor Leach and faculty and staff at Keene to build community, maximize the school’s efficiencies and make it the best institution that it can be.”

Treadwell will be working with Todd Leach, USNH chancellor, and the USNH Board of Trustees during this transition period. She will hold her position until a permanent president is hired.

“Keene is important to the economic wellbeing of the Monadnock region and serves an important mission of providing access to a quality education for students across the state," says Leach. "I am pleased to be working with Dr. Treadwell, who will be helping us to provide Keene with the support it needs to successfully fulfill its mission.”
