This Week’s Spotlight: Melanson Heath, a regional CPA firm with five locations in Manchester, Nashua, Maine and Massachusetts, merged with LaPointe, Torrisi, Stanley & Co. (LTS) in Bedford and Massachusetts and its affiliate J.C. Driscoll & Co. in Bedford. The firms have combined to become the largest NH-based CPA firm and will operate under the name Melanson Heath. As part of the merger, LTS will relocate its Bedford office to Melanson Heath’s Manchester office and its North Andover office to Melanson Heath’s Andover office.


Concord Hospital’s Center for Urologic Care hired Ramiro J. Madden-Fuentes, who specializes in male urologic reconstructive surgery and male and female cancer survivorship genitourinary care.  Madden-Fuentes completed his urologic surgery residency, urologic research fellowship and genitourinary reconstructive urology and cancer survivorship fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina.


Dollar General, a national discount retailer, opened a new store at 15 Gilmanton Road in Belmont. A grand opening was held on Saturday July 15.


Franklin Animal Shelter’s street name was changed to Rescue Road. The area’s NH911 field representative suggested that a separate road name leading to the shelter and other buildings in the area be considered as a source of less uncertainty to eliminate potential response confusion. 


Harbor Homes in Nashua, a nonprofit providing services to low-income, homeless and disabled individuals, received a $5,000 grant award from the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation in Concord to fund the Harbor Care Health and Wellness Center Dental Clinic and the new Harbor Homes Mobile Dental and Health Clinic. The Mobile Dental and Health Clinic will bring dental care, primary medical care and behavioral health care to Greater Nashua, the Souhegan Valley and Manchester, including some of NH’s more rural towns.


Meredith Village Savings Bank hired Samantha Cots as the branch services supervisor for its newest office at 2839 Lafayette Road in Portsmouth. Cots is training out of the bank’s main office in Meredith and will transition to Portsmouth as soon as construction for the branch is complete.


Milestone Engineering & Construction in Concord completed the construction of the admissions office at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, a co-educational independent boarding school. Milestone is also starting construction this month on a new student faculty residence hall on campus, for 24 student and three faculty families.


On July 18, the NH Liquor Commission will open a new 10,500-square-foot NH Liquor & Wine Outlet at 14 Nichols Mill Lane in Warner. The store is projected to generate $5.5 million in annual sales.


Shaheen & Gordon hired Timothy C. Ayer to the litigation department in the firm’s Dover office; Anthony M. Carr to the personal injury department at the firm’s Manchester office; and John Goodlander as a corporate attorney in the firm’s Dover office.


Systems Engineering, a Maine-based IT strategy integrator and managed IT services provider, hired Shane Cochran as a business developer in the firm’s Manchester office. Cochran previously held account management roles for various New England IT companies.
