Seasonal Hiring Expected to Increase in Q4
Published Tuesday, October 3, 2017

Several U.S. companies have just announced plans to increase hiring during the holiday season, which is good news for many job seekers. Research from OfficeTeam also highlights the demand: 26 percent of hiring managers say they typically increase hiring in the fourth quarter.

But beyond a retail surge, there are many reasons why companies will be hiring in the coming months: year-end projects, budgeting for 2018, filling vacated positions and an uptick in business, are driving the demand for a variety of roles.

"Holiday festivities and vacations may often be top of mind at the end of the year, but that doesn't mean businesses slow down," says Brandi Britton, a district president for OfficeTeam. "Many companies ramp up hiring in the fourth quarter, offering seasonal jobs or adding staff to prepare for upcoming projects in the new year."

"It can be advantageous for professionals to continue their job search efforts during these months, especially since other candidates may be taking a hiatus," she adds.
